There are many types of injuries that you can sustain while on the job, such as burn injuries, which can be extremely painful. Here are a few different types of burns in Kentucky that you need to be aware of.

Electrical burns

An electrical burn occurs when an electrical current comes in contact with your body. This type of burn typically happens when workers accidentally touch electrical outlets or electrical cords that aren’t properly insulated.

The physical burn you receive is only part of the damage caused by an electrical burn. The electric current can move through your body and damage your internal muscles and tissue as well. This is why you need to receive medical attention immediately after suffering from an electrical burn. If you suffer this burn due to negligence by your employer, filing a workers’ comp claim or even a lawsuit could be beneficial.

Thermal burns

A thermal burn is the most common type of burn, and it occurs when you touch something that is very hot. This can include being in contact with fire or an object that has been heated to a very high temperature. While on the job, especially if you work in a factory, it is common to deal with machines and materials that get extremely hot, so you need to be careful about what you touch.

Chemical burns

A chemical burn is when you come in contact with harsh, irritating substances that damage your skin or your eyes. This can include things such as industrial grade cleaners, acid, chlorine or bleach.

Burn injuries are very common in the workplace and can also be very severe. You should always be alert and cautious at your workplace, especially if you’re employed at a job that is physically tasking and presents more opportunities for you to get injured.
